South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 7/10/2025

A double! Two anglers with fish on the South Fork of the Snake River.

Our manager Justin Hays said it best: “It’s go time!” Fishing on the South Fork is about as good as it gets right now. Salmon Flies are flying on the upper river, PMDs are coming off in the afternoons, and Caddis are lighting things up in the evenings. You’ll also spot a few Golden Stones, Little Yellow Sallies, and even the occasional Green Drake.

Flows out of Palisades Reservoir remain steady at 13,000 cfs with excellent clarity and ideal water temperatures—conditions couldn’t be better.

Not every riffle is loaded, but the ones that are can be absolutely electric. Some riffles are quiet while others have dozens of rising fish. Keep moving, keep watching, and you’ll find the magic. Don’t overlook side channels or lightly fished stretches—this river rewards exploration. We’ve seen some of the best success lately from anglers who get out of the boat to wade spots that most folks float right past. Take the time to walk, watch, and approach carefully; you’ll often find fish feeding that you’d otherwise miss entirely.

Have fun out there, and don’t forget to stop by our fly shop in Swan Valley. We’re fully stocked with flies, leaders, tippet, floatant, and UV-protective clothing—and Brody’s always got a hot tip or two he’s willing to share.
