South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 5/22/2025

Big brown trout held by South Fork Angler

Who’s excited for some Memorial Day weekend fishing?
Let’s kick things off with a fishing report. The flow on the South Fork has actually dropped to 10,000 cfs, and I’ve got my fingers crossed it stays there through the weekend. Consistent flows and nice weather should make for a great time on the South Fork—especially with many anglers heading over to the “Hank” (aka Henry’s Fork) to chase Salmon Flies.

Flies and tactics remain the same as last week: target slow-moving water with worms, eggs, stoneflies, and streamers. If the stars align, you might even see some dry fly action on Blue-Winged Olives and Caddis. While it’s rare, a warm sunny day this time of year can trigger an excellent Caddis hatch—especially in the Canyon stretch. It’s not something to build your whole day around, but definitely worth keeping in the back of your mind.
