Warm and sunny weather last weekend made for a difficult One Fly competition. We are super proud of all our guides who participated and especially Jaason and Tanner. Jaason competed in his first One Fly after being a guide for over a dozen years and helped the Australian Team to a 2nd place finish and he took home the Top Pro Angler award…way to go Jaason! 
Tanner took home top Idaho guide on Sunday outscoring all the other boats for that day. Tanner is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top guides on the South Fork. Maybe it’s that new boat?
The cool cloudy weather made for some excellent hatches of BWO’s and Mahogany Dun’s. It looks like those dry fly hatches may slow down a bit with the forecast for the weekend predicted to be warm and sunny. There should still be some mayfly hatches and the fish will certainly be looking for the bugs they’ve been eating all week so even if you don’t see active fish if you focus on soft water and long drifts you should turn a few fish. I 
wouldn’t hesitate to have 3 rods strung up.
- Double dry rig with a small terrestrial pattern first trailed by a BWO or Mahogany.
- Streamer rod…now is the time of year the fish know they need to bulk up.
- Mutant Golden Stone with BWO dropper nymph. The river dropped 2,000 cfs this week from 7,600 to 5,600cfs this will definitely get some of our last golden stones moving around. They won’t last though as they tend to disappear after the first hard freeze.
If you aren’t turning fish on the mutant dry fly…turn that rod into your double nymph rig with a small rubberlegs and the same BWO nymph trailing.
