If you read last Thursday’s report then you already know that “It’s on”. Fishing really doesn’t get much better than this with warm sunny days, cold clear water, numerous hatches, and eager fish. It’s pretty simple….go fishing!
The flow out of Palisades Dam dropped to a near perfect 12,500 cfs this week with the reservoir at 96% capacity. We are seeing Salmon Flies on the upper river with a few even as far up as the lodge right now. Afternoon fishing is the best when the fish really key in on PMD’s and Little Yellow Sallies. A big foam dry fly fished REALLY tight to the bank will turn fish as will a dropper below it. In the afternoon focus your attention on riffles, foam lines and side channels where fish will be slurping PMD’s and Sallies.
With the Salmon Flies nearing the Dam there are dry fly fishing opportunities on the entire river right now and we’ll continue to see Golden Stoneflies hatching for the next few weeks. It’s a great time to hit the South Fork if you get the chance.
Tomorrow night (Friday, July 19th) we’d love it if you’d join us for our second “BBQ with a purpose”, an all you can eat Idaho style BBQ and $5.00 from each plate will go to support the Idaho Falls chapter of Project Healing Waters.
Project Healing Waters is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing. Our guides and staff have had the great pleasure of working with veterans and Project Healing Waters and we are very excited to support their mission.
We will be serving smoked chicken quarters, Idaho trout, Idaho baked potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, and chocolate cake for dessert.
BBQ’s are $40.00 for Adults, $15.00 for kids 15 years old and under. Full Bar Available.
