South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 9/22/22

south fork anglers having lunch

Happy first day of Fall and thank you for checking out this week’s fishing report.  Cloudy weather and rain certainly have it feeling like a Fall fishing day and anglers lucky enough to be on the water today will be rewarded as such.  Streamers, Blue Winged Olives, and Mahogany Duns will be the “specials” on the menu with the arrival of Fall but don’t count out the “big foam” until we get the first hard freeze.  Anglers this week were still picking off a few fish each morning on big foam bugs and they make a great way to float your favorite BWO nymph pattern just before the hatch.

Palisades reservoir sits at 14% capacity and the flows this week dropped from 8,900 cft to 5,800 cfs, another sure sign of Fall when irrigation demand drops.  This flow opens up a lot of wade fishing opportunities for both boaters and walk n’ waders.
