Fly fishing conditions on the South Fork of the Snake this week have been excellent. Water clarity is near perfect and dry fly fishing continues to be productive especially in the Canyon and below. Mutant Golden Stones and Hoppers make up the bulk of the big foam fly opportunities. Smaller terrestrials are working and there are some PMD’s and Caddis out and about as well. Keep your eyes peeled for fish holding in “sneaky” spots that other anglers might have missed, we are seeing quite a few fish holding in flats, small troughs, and side channels. The fish have seen a lot of anglers this year so finding water where the fish aren’t seeing as many flies really helps.
The weather this weekend is looking warm and sunny so fishing early and late will benefit you. The Jackson Hole One Fly is taking place this weekend so expect to see a few more boats out on the water. It’s a fun time of year to see the previous flies that have one and might help you determine what fly or flies you want to try. Here’s the list.
Please swing by our fly shop or give us a call if you need any gear or just have questions. If you’re looking for a great meal our dining room is open through Mid-October by reservation, we’d love to have you.
