The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here—Green Drakes and Salmon Flies have officially made their appearance on the lower river.
Flows bumped up earlier this week to 12,600 cfs, nearly identical to this time last year and still a few thousand cfs below average. Water clarity is excellent, and the buzz around the lodge is real.
Anglers have found the most success fishing Salmon Fly and Green Drake nymphs in the morning, then switching to dries as the day warms and bugs begin to hatch. As the hatch progresses, big foam bugs will become effective throughout the day. With above-average temps in the forecast, expect the hatch to push upstream quickly each day.
Please be patient and respectful of other anglers, especially at ramps and on the water. Need flies, gear, or an up-to-date report? Stop by our Fly Shop in Swan Valley next to the grocery store, or give us a call at 208.483.2727.
We also have some limited availability for lodging and guided trips. The easiest way to check is to call the lodge directly at 208.483.2222.
