Guided Fly Fishing on the Main Snake River

The South Fork and Henry’s Fork of the Snake River live up to their storied reputations, but with some truly massive trout and our talented guides, we have another fishery we want to introduce you to. Several of our guides live in the Pocatello area during the off-season specifically so they can guide and fish the main stem of the Snake. Prime time for this fishery is November through March. Trophy trout are common, and while it isn’t sunscreen-and-flip-flops weather, temperatures are generally 20 degrees warmer than our home waters on the South Fork. The effort is worth it.

We offer both walk-and-wade and float fishing on the main Snake, from American Falls Reservoir down to Massacre Rocks State Park. For those willing to dress warm and put in some work, you will have a chance at fish of epic proportions. Best of all, there’s no reason to travel to Argentina or New Zealand — this fishery is a short drive from Idaho Falls or Salt Lake City, and the lucky folks in Pocatello have it right in their backyard.

Main Snake River Float Trips

Rates include lunch, ice, beverages, and flies.

Trip Preparation — What to Bring

Our guides fish 9- or 10-foot rods in 6 or 7 weight for nymphing and streamers. If you don’t own either, we’re happy to provide rods, reels, and lines.

Fishing guides are available on a daily or weekly basis. We encourage guests to request guides, especially during peak season (June 20th–September 15th). Requests are first come, first served.
