Our weather and water flows remain constant; some of our guides might refer to it as stagnant. With a series of unseasonably warm days behind us and more ahead, we’re experiencing a “second summer.” While most fish are being caught on nymphs, there are still a good number that will eat a hopper, beetle, or ant. Your favorite foam hopper, trailed with a small BWO bead head and fished methodically along banks and flats, will be effective. It’s worth taking your time to wade into side channels that are too small to float but contain deep pools where fish are hiding. Anglers have had good success nymphing these deeper, isolated pools with rubber legs and small bead heads.
When our next storm system arrives, be ready, as the BWO and Mahogany Dun hatches will be prolific, and the fish will surely chase streamers all day. Right now, streamer fishing is limited to early morning and late evening hours.
Our fly shop at the lodge and in Swan Valley is having its Fall Sale with up to 60% off. You can also shop our online store.
The lodge will be open until October 14th, and we’ll have guided day trips available through the end of the year.
