Flows have been steady all week at 9,000 cfs. This has allowed the fish to really settle in and fishing has remained consistent with the standard spring nymph patterns; eggs, worms, rubberlegs, midges, and blue winged olives. Guides and guest have also had success fishing streamers. For both methods a focus on slow water has been most productive. Dry fly opportunities are few and far between but as the water warms through the season and as it travels down stream we’ll see more fish feeding on the surface. We are still 4 to 6 weeks away from any sort of peak flow for the year, with Palisades Reservoir sitting at 72% it’s my best guess that flows should stay at 9,000 for a few weeks which should help produce some very good early season fishing.
