We couldn’t be more excited to be writing the first fishing report of 2022. Weekly reports will continue each Thursday afternoon through October. We strive to keep you up to date on the latest weather, fishing, hatches, hot flies, etc. If you’d like the weekly fishing report delivered right to your email inbox you can sign up here. With that said…here we go.
The flow this week experienced its first change since November moving up a bit from 900 cfs to 1,500 cfs. This did not affect the fishing or the fish but does help speed things up if you’re floating, though just a bit. You can expect to see the flows increase gradually as we move into Spring. You can keep tabs on the flows here. If you are planning to float all boat ramps are open and clear of snow.
Tomorrow looks like a great day for fishing with high temps forecasted to hit 60 or better. A cold front arrives Saturday with rain and snow returning. Standard winter tactics remain the best option for catching fish. Double nymph rigs with Rubberlegs, Midges, Perdigon (black, brown, olive), San Juan worms etc. Our Swan Valley fly shop just got a bunch of new flies in, go check them out, the word on the street is they’re “dirty”. The Swan Valley Flyshop is open 9 to 3 daily. You can also call the shop at 208.483.2727
We have guides eager and ready for day trips through April, we are currently guiding trips daily on the South Fork as well as the Main Snake River near Pocatello. You can book a day trip by calling 208.483.2222
The lodge opens for guests on May 1st with a 20% off lodging special we have just a few days still available which can be seen on our availability page.
Thank you for reading this week’s report.
