South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 7/10/24

Jenny Jensen with Rainbow Trout

The South Fork is fishing as hot as the temperatures. Salmon flies are working their way upriver, now past Conant, but with good numbers still in the Canyon. There are also sallies, PMDs, caddis, and golden stones hatching at various times of day. The fish have a lot to choose from, and you’ll find fish keying in on different bugs in different places. Even from one riffle to the next, there can be differences in what stage of PMD the fish are feeding on. Full lifecycle patterns of salmon flies, PMDs, and sallies should be at the ready. With bugs hatching now on the entire river, it’s a great time to be a fly angler on the South Fork. Remember to be kind to fellow anglers on the water and at the boat ramp, and have fun. Brody, our Swan Valley fly shop manager, has some great flies on sale for just $1.00 each, as well as any South Fork gear you might need. Have a great weekend.
