Updating the fishing report a day early this week so you’ve got the most up to date information possible to plan your big 4th of July fishing trips! Flows have moved up a bit out of Palisades to 15,300 cfs. Snow melt in the high country increased this week and with the reservoir now 100% capacity river managers had no choice but to move the flow up. They do not expect any further changes this weekend and we could see flows drop again next week.
This small change in the flow won’t affect the fishing as things are really starting to turn on with Green Drakes, Sallies and PMD’s hatching each afternoon from the Canyon section down. We are even seeing some Salmon Flies from Byington down with some fish keying in on the “Big Bugs” We expect fishing to get better each day now that things have started. Should be a great weekend out there!
Remember, 4th of July weekend is one of the busiest of the season, be courteous and patient with other anglers and non-anglers alike. If you’re looking to avoid the as much of the crowds as possible consider launching in the early morning or late afternoon and fishing ahead or behind most of the traffic.

Happy 4th of July!
