South Fork of the Snake River Fishing Report 7/3/24

South Fork anglers with Brown Trout

Celebrate your freedom, your freedom from strike indicators!  Salmon Flies, Green Drakes, and PMD’s are here just in time for the big holiday weekend.  Salmon Flies started flying this week on the lower river and are moving up river as the water warms. We should see Salmon Flies working into the canyon section by this weekend.  Green Drakes are also hatching on the lower river.  Fishing has been very good in the afternoon’s as the day warms and the bugs get active.  There are some PMD’s and Little Yellow Sallies hatching on the upper river but nymphing is still the best tactic here, especially in the morning.

This is what we’ve been waiting for, now that it’s here don’t forget to be courteous to other anglers and don’t let the fishing and hatch distract you from staying safe this weekend.  Be kind, have fun, and catch a big one.
